Valentine’s Day Craft Project: a glass jar to illuminate your Valentine's Day
glass jar
Valentine's Day will be here soon! On February 14, remember to pay special attention to your sweetheart or your friends.

To show your Valentine that you love him or her, you can send them a card, give them a present, take them to the cinema or restaurant or just go out and have fun. But this year why not do something different? We have a fun gift idea that you can keep and use all year long.

Decorate your living room with something you have made yourself: a lighted glass jar decorated in a romantic style especially for Valentine’s Day.

You can do this project alone or with your special someone, to keep for yourself or give as a gift! It creates a cosy, romantic atmosphere.

Note: The project can be made with bottles and jars.

To make this Valentine's Day decorated jar, you will need:

Easy  Cheap 10 min  1 glass jar and its metal lid

  •  An empty glass jar (or bottle, for example a wine bottle)

  •  The metal lid that fits your jar (or the cork for your bottle) (optional)

  • A battery-powered lighted garland

  •  Some twine or a red ribbon

  •  A red heart cut out from nice paper or printed out

  •  A photo to glue on the red heart (optional)

Instructions to realize this glass jar:

Wash and thoroughly dry your jar (or bottle) and lid.

Place the lighted garland inside the jar and keep the switch out of the jar. You can glue it to the back of the jar so that it is hidden.

If you’re using a glass bottle, choose a bottle with a wide enough mouth so you can insert the lighted garland.

Here’s how to make these decorative bottles:

Print and/or cut out a heart and place it on the centre of the jar. You can also customize the jar, for example, by pasting a photo of you and your sweetheart on the red heart. Finally, tie some twine or a pretty ribbon around the neck of the jar to add the finishing touch.

If you're using glass bottles, decorate the bottle, for example with special ribbon or a customized label.

You can also use several glass jars to create a festive atmosphere.

As an alternative, use mini jars and candles instead of lighted garlands.

Happy Valentine's Day!
