A New Year’s Eve Table Fit for a King thanks to glass bottles!
glass bottles

Mark the transition to the New Year with a beautifully decorated table! Have you started to think about your table decor?

This week, we’re posting an idea that will look great with any style: candle holders.

However you plan to decorate your table for the New Year, you can’t go wrong by adding a few candles.

These candle holders are made from fancy decorative bottles adorned with taper candles. These bottles will give your table character. You can also use the same idea for floating candles placed in glass jars.

You can decorate the glass bottles with designs that match your decor. One idea is to print out a vintage label and glue it on your glass bottle, or spray your empty glass bottle with snow spray.

To make these glass bottle candle holders, you will need:

  • Empty glass bottles (see recommendations below)

  • Taper candles

  • Foliage

  • A pair of scissors

  • Water

Here’s how to make these decorative candle holders:

1
1 First of all, take some foliage and place it inside the clear glass bottles. If necessary, cut the branches to size. Make sure not to put too much foliage in the clear glass bottles or it won’t look as nice.

2 Then fill your empty bottles with water. The glass bottles must be filled to approximately 1 cm from the top so that the candle is not in direct contact with the water.

3 Then place the candles in the glass bottles. You will need as many candles as you have glass bottles. Depending on the height of your glass bottles, cut your candles to the desired length.

If the candle is wider in diameter than the mouth of the bottle, just shave down the bottom of the candle with a knife until it fits properly in the glass bottle. If you want, you can also pass a lighter over the mouth of the bottle to melt the wax. The melted wax will help the candle stay securely in the glass bottle.

4 Your candle holder is ready! Be careful to keep them out of reach of children and, as a precaution, be sure to snuff out the candle when it gets short so it won’t fall into the bottle.
