A jar of homemade chocolate hazelnut spread
Jar of homemade chocolate hazelnut spread

Do you love chocolate hazelnut spread? Here is a delicious and totally addictive recipe! In addition to being amazingly good, this spread is fast and easy to make, inexpensive and quite healthy compared to the jars of spread sold in supermarkets.

This recipe is much lower in calories than store-bought spread because it contains no oil, but this doesn’t affect the taste or texture of the spread at all.

If you like the famous rochers Christmas chocolates, you will absolutely love this recipe! All you need is a little chocolate, hazelnut powder and an empty jam jar.

Glass jars are recommended to keep the spread fresh. Find our range of food-grade glass jars here.

The ingredients for a 600 ml glass jar:

  • One chocolate bar
  • 300 ml milk
  • 100 g hazelnut powder
  • 60 g sugar
  • Water

You will also need:

  • Two saucepans for the water bath
  • One glass jar with lid of around 60 cl or a couple of small glass jars of around 30 cl

The two jars used are: a small 250 ml glass jar with lid and a 350 ml glass jar with lid (the recipe makes enough spread to fill these two jars completely)

The spread recipe for a 60 cl glass jar:

Wash your glass jars and their metal lids carefully and let them air dry.

Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it in a water bath with a tablespoon of water.

Stir well and add the milk little by little.

Then add the hazelnut powder and the sugar to the mixture. Stir well.

Your spread is ready to be put in swing top jars or glass jars with lids! Pour the mixture into the glass jars, taking care not to burn yourself. Allow the glass jars to cool at room temperature. Once the spread has cooled, you can put the lids on the jars. Enjoy the spread the next day and let us know how you liked the recipe! :)

This spread can be kept for about a month in a closed glass jar, in your fridge. However, we can’t confirm this personally, because we finished our jars so fast! ;-)
